Listening to graduate students today, one of the instructors remarked she’s email driven. She spends her day responding to emails without having the opportunity to work on any personal projects.
That feels like the entirety of my job often. Nothing I do is for me or advances me or anything with which I have to do. It’s all about doing things for other people in the organization. And I guess that is the nature of a service-oriented job. I just don’t like it.
And now I know that. I’m tired of feeling I put it in and put in without getting anything back besides a paycheck.
